I know nothing about games programming, but what really got me excited about Phaser in particular was Belén Albeza's sub 30 minute video (with matching example code) on the basics of writing a simple game in JS with Phaser.
The framework is super simple, the documentation is amazing, and you don't need major JavaScript kungfu to get going. And working through their step-by-step tutorial was super motivating. Set aside 30 mins and make it happen!
Super pumped about having a crack at my own from-scratch simple game over the holidays…
